Event
The St. Patrick’s Day Charity Gala Ball will take place on 14 March 2014 in the Westin Palace Hotel, Madrid. This is the second edition of this very special event, following on from our last successful outing in the Círculo de Bellas Artes of Madrid in 2012.
The evening will commence with a cocktail reception at 8.00pm under the famous stained glass dome of the Westin Palace, followed by dinner at 9.00pm with drinks, live music, and dancing until late as well as a select raffle and fabulous spot prizes for our guests. The menu will reflect the best of Irish and Spanish cuisine, including select Irish beef and fine Spanish wines.
The Westin Palace is a five-star hotel located in Madrid’s city centre. One of the city’s most famous establishments, this elegant hotel was founded in 1912 and has witnessed history being written on more than one occasion.

About Debra
Our St. Patrick’s Day Charity Ball 2014 will be in aid of Debra Ireland and Debra Spain – charities that provide comfort and hope to children and adults living with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) in Ireland and Spain.
Debra Ireland was founded in 1988 and provides care and support to 232 families. Debra Ireland urgently requires an on-the-road nurse that will make on-site calls to households to change bandages for children and alleviate this heart-breaking duty for parents. 50% of the funds we raise will be used towards the partial payment of a nurse. Debra Spain was founded in 1993 and provides care and support to 212 families. 50% of the funds we raise will go to the respite home in Marbella that provides families with a much-needed holiday with the support of trained and friendly staff.
EB patients have no collagen in their skin and the skin layers (internal and external) tear and blister at the slightest touch. The skin is as delicate as a butterfly’s wing and simply touching the surface of the skin can cause wounds that never heal. It is incurable and the pain is never-ending. The wounds are bandaged and need changing every 2 days, taking on average 2 hours.
